If you schedule software updates to run at night, try to move them to a lunchtime slot; keeping disruption to a minimum as well as enabling any problems to be flagged mid-day rather then during the morning rush. This enables computers to be turned off during the night and over the weekend.

Switch off appliances at the wall

Travel by train rather then plane wherever possible (or avoid travelling at all if possible, using video and telephone conferencing instead)

Recycle paper, cardboard, bottles, cans and plastic wherever possible.

Make use of natural daylight by keeping windows clean and use energy efficient lighting systems.

Ditch the air con for portable fans which are better for the environment and cheaper to run.

Dropping the thermostat by one degree will reduce your bill and your energy output.

If possible, devise a car share scheme.

Print company stationery and marketing material on paper which is recycled  or from a FSC Certified resource

Replace your water coolers and bottled water with tap water and filter systems, saving lorry deliveries and energy.

Use email to communicate with your customers wherever possible instead of post or fax.

If you have a vending machine that uses plastic cups consider asking staff to use re-useable mugs instead.

Hardware and software audit

Having an audit of your computer hardware could unveil inefficiencies in your business processes. You may not be utilising the whole of your network or you could steam-line your resources to make them more energy efficient.

Printer & hardware maintenance

By keeping your printers and hardware serviced you will use less toner, extend the life of the machine and save energy; all of which will save manufacturing resources, and money.

Fax to email

We can provide you with a fax to email solution. By sending your incoming faxes straight to email, you save your business money on resources and enable electronic document organisation especially in combination with using document management software (see below).

Document Management

By making an electronic filing system rather then a paper one, you can save printing resources, time and office space. With all your files stored in a categorised electronic system, you can search easily for your files and utilise the space that would normally be filled by filing cabinets.

Flexible working

Allowing your employees to work from home can make them more efficient. By enabling your employees to manage their time better, eliminating commuting time and making family commitments easier to deal with, you could boost your business and reduce carbon emissions. Plus with employees working at home you can reduce your office space, reducing your energy bills and your company's overhead.

Mobile working

Using mobile communications to work on the move can aid your employees in working more efficiently. Being able to pick up emails on a portable device after a meeting has over-run means that you won't need to return to the office to pick up your messages. Mobile working readdresses the life v work balance that the UK, with it's long working hours, struggles to achieve. Overall it saves your business time, money and energy. VoIP - IP Telephony

Phone calls can be transferred to home phones just like an extension number so that home working can be achieved easily and flexibly. By using VoIP technology, it also allows your office phone calls to be transferred from your desk to your mobile just like an extension number, not only saving time but also improving your customer service which in the long run will increase your cash flow.

Web conferencing & IP Surveillance

Although face-to-face communication will always be vital to some sales, using video conferencing you reduce the cost per sale through less travel time and  more flexible customer engagement. Virtual seminars or product demonstrations can also be created using IP surveillance cameras which can be logged on to by the viewer from any internet capable computer, eliminating the need to travel and allowing multiple persons to view at once.

Remote support/facilities management

Having to call in emergency IT support costs your company time, energy and money. By having a facilities management agreement, your IT support service can monitor your company's technology remotely, alerting you to many problems before they occur, enabling a swift resolution before a call out has to be made.

Computer Recycling

We can help you assess the ways in which you can now legally dispose of your old equipment. We can also help you to remove data from old machines before they are discarded to protect your business from security breaches.

Many businesses are looking to clean up their act when it comes to the environment and it is now possible not only to save money but also make your business more profitable by going green. With most consumers and businesses looking at the eco-friendly reputation of their suppliers, fine tuning your business technology, should be worthwhile.
